Rear Hand Body Shot After They Slip the Jab Outside

They slip your jab outside and feel safe for half a beat. That is the window. A rear hand body shot after they slip the jab outside punishes the exit instead of chasing their head into empty air.

Build it from entries you already own, like slip outside their jab then fire the rear straight, then drop the same rear hand to the ribs when their head is not there.

Read the Outside Slip Early

An outside slip takes their head offline and often opens the body line on your rear side. Their lead elbow rises or floats. Their weight shifts. You do not need a huge tell – a small float is enough.

If they high-guard after body work, change levels again later with ideas from jab to rear uppercut when they high-guard after body. Tonight the focus is the first body shot off the slip.

Do not telegraph by dropping the hand early. Keep the jab honest so the slip is real.

Mechanics of the Rear Body Shot

Sit a touch on the rear leg, rotate the hip, and drive the rear fist short to the liver or floating ribs. Palm slightly up or neutral depending on your gym’s coaching. Elbow protects as you return.

Step with the rear foot only as much as needed to keep range. Oversized steps get you countered by the lead hook.

Exhale on impact. Soft midsection targets punish more when the shot is compact, not looping.

Pair With Head Threats So They Keep Slipping

If every jab is a body setup, sharp partners stop slipping and start checking. Mix rear straights upstairs after the same jab, then break downstairs. The lead hook to body after a high catch from lead hook to body after they catch jab high guard is a sibling tool for a different read.

Show the head enough that the outside slip stays their habit. Then cash the body.

Reset behind the jab or a small pivot. Do not admire the shot.

Drill It Without Turning Sparring Ugly

On the bag: jab, imagine the slip, rear body, reset. On the pads: partner calls “slip” with a mitt angle. In technical sparring: agree that the first clean body off the slip scores the round for the drill.

Keep power around seventy percent until the timing is boring. Timing first, damage later.

If they counter with a check hook, your feet were late. Study check hook after slip that recovers center line fast from their view so you understand the risk.

Common Misses

Casting the rear hand. Dropping the lead hand. Chasing after a deep slip that already exited. Throwing the body shot when they slipped inside instead of outside.

Film one round from the side. If your rear elbow wings high, shorten the arc.

FAQ

Liver or solar plexus?
Either can work. Liver line is classic when their lead side opens. Coach preference rules your gym.

Orthodox vs southpaw?
Same idea: rear hand to the open body after their outside slip. Mirror the geometry.

Gloves or bare knuckles for drills?
Use proper gear. Pads and bag first. Live work only with supervision.

What if they slip inside?
Different shot. Do not force the rear body into a closed line.

How soon after the jab?
Immediate. The window dies when they plant again.

Can beginners use this?
Yes as a pad drill. Sparring application waits until jab discipline is solid.
